Post-CNY: impromptu escapade
Monday, February 26th, 2007Did the most impromptu thingy I had ever done over the last few years…
(Hubby was not up to it and he had a lot of commitments back home so, I was on my own…)
Initially, the original plan was to go up with my Bestfriends, Pat and Debbie together with Pat’s sister, Girl ~ which was cited casually on Wednesday night over coffee at Starbucks together then with Pat’s beau, Ram… it struck me then, ‘Hey! Why not??!’… so, the whole Thursday was overflowing with apt planning and coaxing my girlfriends to for all intents and purposes implement our plan (my Achilles’ heel ~ once my psyche’s set on it, by hook or by crook, I must do it!!)… the whole thing was still at the eleventh hour (it would have busted my heart to pieces if it was abandoned!)…
2a.m. of Thursdaynight-Fridaydawn, I was still cajoling both Pat and Debbie to go ahead with it…
3a.m., I was down by one mare… Pat backed out due to some unforeseen circumstances (which I can’t and won’t hold against her! Pat’s beau, Ram and I bet 5buckazoids on the whole thing and of coz… I lost!)…
6a.m, Friday cock-crow… urs Truly! was up and about… first things first, I texted Debbie and told her I’ll be knocking on her door by 7a.m.! Reached her place and ding dong a-merry here and there, we left Penampang-Putatan by 7.35a.m. en route to Menumbok… YES! Our plan was to make a day trip to Labuan by land via Menumbok, just cause ~ simply, for the FUN of it!! (and boy! was it a whole lotta FUN!)
9.10a.m. arrival at Menumbok safe and sound…
9.30a.m. hopped on the speedboat…
10a.m. disembarked at ‘Labuan International Ferry Terminal’ … and, our knight in shining armour with his metallic silver shining carriage came brusquely after tat. Laughing our hearts out in disbelief that we had actually got our arse in Labuan, got in the awaiting carriage and Sir Arthur took us for brunch. Debbie and I were famished and in dire need of liquids… (Labuan is/was damn HOT!) … us 3 musketeers had ‘kon lau men’ with Nescafe pings and Milo ping… then, with our rummy tum tum filled up, Debbie and I went on our mission in buying liquors and cigarettes… we then got a grand tour of Labuan by Sir Arthur in his carriage… by lunchtime, we got to Financial Park… this time, in dire need to get away from the heat!!
A cherished family friend of mine joined us for lunch and it was wonderful to see her after all these years and actually got to hang-out with her ~ catching up on old times and memoirs… it’s amazing to know that even in the absence of a decade (if not more!), some things just never seem to have changed and we can actually pick up from where we left off (even if a thing or two did changed ~ which is actually not an iota other than she’s a fully grown stunning beauty now and urs Truly! being a mom-of-4, everything else remain the same)…
1p.m the 3 of us ladies hop in Sir Arthur’s carriage and headed down to surprise my BabySister at campus… (didn’t know her campus was at the other end of Labuan and my surprise almost didn’t work out, coz her mobile was unreachable) … but, my persistence paid off (eventually!) and boy! was my BabySister surprised to see me knocking at her bedroom’s door… the 5 of us then had drinks together at Mawilla to cool the heat off…
2.30p.m. my cherished gorgeous family friend got off first, back to her workingplace at Financial Park and we continued our last journey to the terminal… (again!) Debbie and I managed to add on a few more liquor bottles and cigarettes plus CHOCOLATES!… we got our tickets and negotiated terms with the Man on howabout-are-we-suppose-to-get-in-7bottles-of-liquor-and-4cigarette-packs between Debbie and me via the checkpoint… Sir Arthur and my BabySister
went in with us up to the jetty point and it was very SWEET of them
both to leave only after the speedboat motored off Debbie and me with
our booty…
4.10p.m. we were safely back at Menumbok after a tumultuous choppy and rough sea adventure and we headed straight back home…
5.30p.m. by recordtime, we were safely home sweet home…
After our trip, Debbie and I chilled out for a while with my CuzApril and her fiancée (my BabyBro!), Debbie’s Hubby, Ram & Co., Jue and her hubby Adrian… it was a FUN chilling out session! (wasn’t it, BabyBro?)
8p.m… had dinner with Hubby at his fave western chow ~ lambchop @ Archie’s… Pat came and joined us eventually after her dinner with her beau and his family!!
9p.m… freshen up at home and relaxed with my Babies ~ showering them with love & chocolates!!
10.30p.m. Night out with Hubby, Pat & her beau ~ Ram, RichieRich, Mark&Angie, Hashim amongst few to mention… at Shennies, until closingtime…
2.30a.m. Supper with Hubby, Pat&Ram and Hashim…
3.45a.m. zzzz… (finally! after having only 3 hours of shuteye in the last 24hours)
POINTS TO PONDER:
1. Beautiful friendship LASTS… especially IF it is with the exceptional ones!
2. You need to have some sugar and spice in your life by doing impromptu thingy, something out of the extraordinary!
3. When you set your heart and mind to it, you’ll always accomplish it magnificently!
4. 2 women can actually get away with booty of 7liquors and 4cigarette packs!
5. I AM a very good designated and SAFE driver… even if it’s at 150km/ph or at the average of 110-130km/ph… mind you! Debbie’s my walking testimonial :o)
Outmost gratitude and appreciation to Sir Arthur and also to my cherished family friend for taking care of us (also my BabySister, Serena!) during our short stint of 4 hours escapade… it was unquestionably memorable and worth every sweat of it!
Snippets of text between my BabySis and i:
